I am just going to go with Wilhelm for a few reasons… partialy because Gustov bestowed it on me.

I have some experience with historical cannons and fabricating them for “civil war events”. I have even built a few… A turned wooden 6×6 on a wodden lathe can get some some wonderfull results. With a steel sleve the cannon can take powder charge and be fired. Waggons can be made to dis-assemble for transportation. Weight and cost can be overcome with this solution.

I can get ahold of reasonably accurate hollow iron sand casted garden ordimant cannons. These barrels come at about 32″ length and in the correct carrage would look reasonably peroid. An example of one that I have modified… The carage would have to be fabricated in either solution.

I have plans for a simple english war of roses carrage. The pattern seems fairly universal.

/seeking an overall opinion.

Liam,

I was going to point you towards Max's Thing Book, but that BilbiOdyssey link points to it.  There are something like 200 pages to that book, and most of them are cannon.  There's lots of good pics in that particular book.

I need to upload the photos I took of the Fahnlein Zurich cannon for you guys who want to make one.

I just bought a 34 inch cannon barrel, hollow iron/sand cast garden cannon. Pics will follow when I can get to my fathers house. Looking for carrage plans.

FYI, your friendly neighborhood admin will occasionally move posts to the appropriate place.  Posts about things that go “boom” belong over in Military Life so we can find them when we look for them later.

I can burn you a CD with period cannon images.  And if you want, I can put you in touch with the guys from Fahnlein Zurich to ask them about how they made their cannon carriage.
