We're looking a little low on numbers for the spring show (and the fall for that matter) so the parragraphs below are going into the CTRF newsletter. If y'all could spread the word, feel free to use the below, or the stuff on the recruitment page on the web site or make up your own!
Thanks,
Alena (on behalf of Stephen who is snowed in in Albany)
Bringing History to the Faire
The Guild of Saint Moritz is looking for new members! Needed: men and women interested in portraying the life of a Landsknecht military unit on campaign. We march and fight, we cook and sew, we wear outrageous clothing, all in the name of history! We will teach you everything you need to know, all you need is time, enthusiasm, and a set of period clothes by dress rehearsal weekend (and we’ll even help you with the clothes).
Each new Guild member will be paired with a returning Guild member who will help the new member get their bearings. All Guild members must attend rehearsals before participating in an event. We will set up a Landsknecht encampment at both the spring and fall CTRF shows; new folks are welcome to join in either the spring or the fall. Each Guild member will develop a 16th century character based on those historically associated with the army and baggage train of the Holy Roman Empire (modern day Germany). Daily activities will include drilling with the weapons of the time, cooking demonstrations, displays of medical skills, fight training, textiles, and camp life.
The guild of Saint Moritz functions as a reenactment group tied to the Connecticut Renaissance Faire but with its own organization structure. If you would like to learn more please contact Stephen Pasker: landsknecht@autumntree.net or Julie Stickler: DasGeldFahnlein@gmail.com
