I was puttering around on Wikipedia this morning and I found a rather fascinating link to the Housebook Master (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M….._Housebook). Wikimedia Commons has a large collection of images from his book. He was working in the last quarter of the 15th century, so he's about 50 years before us, but there are still lots of intersting images of everyday items. Plus some surprises like what looks like a co-ed hot tub party!

He has drawings of cannons, and the army both on the march and encamped. Plus lots of elaborate village scenes. Worth spending a little time with the zoom feature.
