Most of you already know about this one, but for those who don’t, we’ve been asked by Higgins to come out on November 19th to take part in a military through the ages display. Here are some more details right from Higgins:
First off, all groups will be on the 3rd floor Gallery (hopefully it will be cooler for all!). Each will have one table. The table will either be 8 or 6 ft, let us know which would be preferred. You will need to provide a table covering (it can be a blanket). The table will be situated in the middle of the floor to allow for traffic control. This will include the “knuckle” which means no Great Hall demos. This also means you can’t bring everything you own!!! Your table space and yourselves are your display. Two chairs will be given to each group these will be posted at the heads of the tables, visitors will be approaching from both sides of table. Try not to spend too much time sitting, unless you are doing something that requires sitting.
Second, to keep things comfy I would like to see no more than 5 participants per group, preferably armed/armored. (no hangers on, people not in costume, etc.)
Third, each group with the exception of the Vikings (as they have no display) , will have a 30 min time slot in the auditorium. 15 minutes to talk about yourselves and the time period you represent and 15 minutes for Q&A. This is the chance to have your own audience and “sell” yourselves, if you have brochures bring them! At least 1 of your members needs to stay with your 3rd floor table, although we may be able to provide a staff person to cover if you need.
Fourth, for all groups a reminder that, if you hand a visitor a weapon you must maintain at least one hand on the weapon to keep control of it for safety purposes. This rule applies to all sharp instruments as well, utility knives, surgical tools etc., that may be on display.
Also, to note we are as we have every year providing lunch which will be in the classroom. There is a “Greenroom” for groups that will be in the 2nd floor classroom. There will be two rows of tables, one for re-enactor equipment the other for lunch space.

So, we are limited to 5 people. I made it clear that we WOULD have women at the event. So, the breakdown will be 3 men, 2 women. How to choose? Essentially, I’m going to treat this as a reward for hard work. So, let me know if you want to do it and I will give first priority to those who worked the most and hit more workshops leading up to CTRF. I also need to weigh in accuracy here, so this may be an impetus to get your stuff looking really good! Numbers will, of course, keep the ratio above in mind. So, drop me an email if you want to go! Of course, you can always come to the museum that day,and who would stop you from dressing in Landsknecht?

I could be available that day if you need someone, but I certainly have no need to take a place from anyone who really wants to go. Sounds like fun though, so if I am in the area I may swing by to see the event anyway.

I would say there are more deserving Campfrauen and I'm neutral on going as part of the Fahnlein. I might show up to patron though. Hope everyone who goes has fun.

Stephen,
Tibor and I would love to be there, but it is supposed to be the day of our daughter's birthday party. What are the times that we would be needed?
