So we probably won't have legs on the final design. Do we want a latch big enough to lock it? It would be cool to have a huge honking lock to protect the valuable spices.

Yes, but who gets the key? Frau Hanna? Gustav? Or Wulfram? That might be too much power for any one person. As we all know “He who controls the spice controls the universe…”

Wow, you really planned that setup well, didn’t you?

Actually, I really was meaning just to ask the question about who we would tell patrons had the keys to open it. But then the rest came to me in a blinding flash of geekery.
But, seriously, would we be saying one of you noble types has the key? Or do we think that the Barbier/Surgeon would be responsible for handling them as “medicinal” items?
It would be an interesting discussion point during the faire day to talk about how expensive and gaurded the spices are.

I suspect the Barbier wouldn’t be sharing any of his herbs and medicines with us, I think these are specifically kitchen spices. Based on the fact that they likely belong to the Reischach family, I think it makes sense for Hanne or Sibalde to have the key. Something we should look into more, of course, but it does seem a very “lady of the house” sort of item.

Or the trusted valet? While in this case the Hauptmann has his family on the march, when he does not I would expect his most trusted personal servant would have the key.
