So, there is a PDF article out there, looks like a powerpoint presentation, on Revolutionary war tents. I'm putting it here because it contains photos of extant tent materials, rope styles, stakes, mud flaps, reinforced rope holes and much more. Yes, outside of our timeperiod, but with styles and details a lot closer than our current tents.

I don't think we should get rid of any of our current tents, the ones we have are waterproof and fireproof, and easy to put up and take down. But it was interesting to read the article.
