Project Gutenberg has a couple of old cookbooks available electronically:

The Closet of Sir Kenelm Digby Knight Opened (cook book from 1669) http://www.gutenberg.org/etext/16441
The Compleat Cook (1658) http://www.gutenberg.org/etext/10520
Forme of Cury (1390) http://www.gutenberg.org/etext/8102

They are free to download (or $.99 if you purchase them for an e-reader thru Amazon) but the one i downloaded is a little tricky. It is a transcription of the original text (or actually a voctorian publication of the original text) so the recipes are not explained, there are not modern measurements, and you do not actually get to see the original text, just the transcription. However, they are great for inspiration and ingredient lists. If you would like to cook something but you don't know what, read through the table of recipes, look through the recipes for common ingredients and cooking styles to help you decide what you want to cook.
